About
Named after the global city of Johannesburg, the University of Johannesburg (UJ) is vibrant, diverse, and energetic. The institution, which is proudly South African, has deep African roots and is in a good position to help realize the promise for expansion in higher education on the Continent. With more than 50,000 students, including more than 3,000 international students from 80 different countries, UJ has developed into a diverse, inclusive, transformative, and collegial school. Because of this, UJ is one of the largest contact institutions among the 26 state universities that make up the higher education system in South Africa (SA).
UJ Campuses
Auckland Park Kingsway Campus (APK): This is UJ's main and largest campus, serving as the administrative hub. It hosts a variety of faculties and provides extensive facilities, including lecture halls, libraries, sports complexes, and student residences.
Auckland Park Bunting Road Campus (APB): Originally part of the Technikon Witwatersrand, APB is home to the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture (FADA) and the School of Tourism and Hospitality. The campus features specialized studios, workshops, and the university's radio station, UJFM 95.4.
Doornfontein Campus (DFC): Located in the eastern part of Johannesburg, DFC houses the Faculty of Health Sciences and parts of the Faculties of Engineering and the Built Environment, and Science. The campus is equipped with advanced laboratories, clinics, and simulation centers to support practical training
Soweto Campus (SWC): Situated in the historic township of Soweto, this campus focuses on education and community development programs. It offers modern facilities, including lecture halls, libraries, and sports fields, and plays a significant role in UJ's outreach initiatives.
