With over 33,000 students, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is KwaZulu-Natal's (KZN) premier university. It is located in the charming cities of Durban (PMB) and Pietermaritzburg. As a university of technology, it places a strong priority on the caliber of instruction and learning by mandating that all of its faculty members possess the best credentials possible.
In April 2002, the ML Sultan and Technikon Natal technikons amalgamated to establish the Durban University of Technology. It was once known as the Durban Institute of Technology before changing its name to the Durban University of Technology, just like the other technical universities.
