About UP

The main campus of the University of Pretoria (UP) is situated in the heart of Hatfield, a vibrant diplomatic hub within South Africa’s capital city. As a public university with seven campuses, UP takes pride in its reputation as one of the world’s leading research institutions.

UP provides excellent teaching, learning, and research opportunities throughout its nine faculties. These include the only Faculty of Veterinary Science in South Africa, a highly rated Business School, and Africa's top-ranked Faculty of Law. Pretoria's famous jacaranda trees, which flood the city with their characteristic purple hue, notably encircle the university. At UP, we think that the future of our students, our nation, and the African continent is shaped by our activities today, in addition to what we have already accomplished.
