About DUT

With more than 33,000 students, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is one of the leading universities in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). The institution operates across campuses in the cities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg. As a university of technology, DUT places strong emphasis on teaching and learning, with academic staff holding advanced qualifications in their respective fields. 

The university was established in April 2002 through the merger of ML Sultan Technikon and Technikon Natal. Before adopting its current name, the institution was known as the Durban Institute of Technology, similar to several other technical universities at the time.
